• One of the most attractive advantages of the ferry service between Hong Kong and Macau is that it runs frequently during normal hours. From the Hong Kong – Macau Ferry Terminal, travelers can find a ferry departing every 15 minutes to the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal in Macau.

Disadvantages:

• Although going from Hong Kong to Macau by ferry may be convenient for some travelers, it is not always the smoothest mode of transport. The choppy waters can make for an uncomfortable ride, which may lead to sea sickness, so those hoping to do some work or get some rest during the journey may find their plans thwarted.
• While there are ferries from Hong Kong arriving at the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal every 15 minutes, passengers intending to travel to the Taipa Ferry Terminal will be disappointed to hear there are only 5 ferries all day.

Advantages:

• With a journey time of only 15 minutes, travelling by helicopter is undoubtedly the fastest way to travel from Hong Kong to Macau. It should be noted, however, that when the time for boarding and disembarking is considered, the duration of the journey is closer to 45 minutes to 1 hour.
• The heliport is quite conveniently situated in the central, albeit congested, location of the Shun Tak Centre in Sheung Wan. The helicopter arrives at the Macau Maritime Terminal in Se, however, which means those wishing to visit the Cotai Strip will still need to take a taxi or arrange a private car.

Disadvantages:

• Flying from Hong Kong to Macau by helicopter may be the fastest option, but it is also far and away the most expensive way to travel. With an average cost per person of HKD4,500 (USD575), travelers can choose to travel to Macau by ferry or private car for a fraction of the cost.
• During adverse weather conditions, it is not advised to take a helicopter to get from Hong Kong to Macau. During typhoon warnings, the helicopter service may become unavailable, leaving travelers that had already planned to fly to Macau without a means to get there.

Passengers can choose to avoid the air or sea, and instead travel in comfort and peace by hiring a private car service. The English speaking driver will pick you up at your location and take you to the doorstep of your destination.

Advantages:

• By using a private car service, not only can business travelers be picked up exactly where they want in Hong Kong, but they can also taken directly to their destination in Macau. This is especially useful in a city as busy as Hong Kong and also in a city like Macau where the public transport is not as comprehensive.
• For those that are new to Hong Kong or Macau, navigating the immigration control can be a somewhat stressful experience to deal with. With a private car service, however, the driver will be there to assist passengers and drive safely through the border and also handle any queries about the border crossing process.
• Overall, a private car service combines the best of the other ways to get from Hong Kong to Macau. It offers more privacy and comfort than a ferry ride, while not as expensive as flying by helicopter.

Disadvantages:

• Although travelling by car may not be as fast as by ferry or by helicopter, it does allow travelers some time to catch up on some emails, make phone calls, or take a rest before arriving in Macau.
